Pre-Steps

domain and hosting

If you're just starting out with a website, you'll first need a domain name and hosting - I recommend either BlueHost or NameCheap.

Bluehost offers cheap and solid hosting if you’re just starting out with a personal blog or small business website. They are a full provider of domains, hosting and SSL certificates.
Domains start from $11.99/yr | Hosting is super affordable at $2.95/month & you can get a free domain if you purchase a 12 month hosting plan!

NameCheap is a great option if you plan on having a couple of websites. They are a full provider of domains, hosting and SSL certificates. Domains start from $9.95/yr | Hosting is super affordable at $2.88/month for up to 3 websites.

Our templates are only compatible with self-hosted installations of WordPress (WordPress.org)
*Not sure which version of WordPress you have? Here’s how to check

install wordpress

Installing WordPress is a simple process that takes less than five minutes to complete.

The DIY install instructions are below (Or you can ask your hosting provider nicely to install it for you - they usually do it for free!)

The easiest and quickest way to install WordPress is through Softaculous, a popular auto-installer. It allows you to easily install popular web applications like WordPress with just a few clicks. Good hosting use Softaculous in their control panel.

Simply login to your Control Panel (or cPanel for short) account - your hosting company would have provided this information when you signed up to host your website.

1. Go to your control panel URL. Example: blogname.com/cpanel

Login with your username and password.

Look for Softaculous icon or WordPress installer icon. You will find them under Auto Installers section.

  1. Clicking on any of these icons will launch Softaculous auto-installer for WordPress. First you will see an overview of WordPress. You need to click on the Install tab to continue.

Softaculous will now ask you where you want to install WordPress.

Choose HTTP for every situation, except if your are launching your site with ecommerce and processing payments, then choose HTTPS.

It’s up to your personal prefernce if you would like http://www or http:// - It doesn’t matter which one you choose but you will have to remeber it as this will be your proper URL.

After that, you need to choose the domain name where you want to install WordPress. Most users want to install WordPress in their domain name (like example.com) In that case, you need to make sure that the ‘In Directory’ field is blank.

Scroll down a little, and you will see the site settings section.

Under this section, first you need to provide a title and description for your WordPress site. Don’t worry you can easily change this later.

Next, you need to choose an admin username, password, and email address.

Make sure that you enter correct email address in the admin email field. This is where WordPress will send notifications and password reset link if you ever forgot your password.

Rest of the options on the screen are optional. You can now click on the install button to run the installer.

Softaculous will run the installer using the settings you provided. You will see a progress bar with installation status. It will take a couple of minutes, do not close the window until the progress bar reaches 100% otherwise this may affect your WordPress installation.

You will see a success message after the installation is finished. It will also show you a link to your website and another link to your WordPress admin area.

To login to your website dashboard place /wp-admin on the end of your domain, for example: http://www.blogname.com/wp-login.php

And that’s it, you’ve successfully installed wordpress.org!

writting your sales page

Writting your sales page copy can be overwhelming to say the least! This bundle includes a ‘how to write your sales page’ worksheet to help  you craft your message.

Access the google doc here or you can find the word doc within your download folder.

Just fill out the worksheet propts and you'll see your sales copy starting to take form.

In my own experience, i've found it's best to complete your sales page copy first - draft it, edit it, review it and when you're happy -  copy / paste the text into the corresponding rows of the web template.

Creating an email list (even if your blog or brand has just launched) is a really important step! In fact it's the #1 tip you hear successful blogger's say they wish they had started from day 1!

If you don't already have an email marketing provider, I recommend MailerLite (free) or ConvertKit (premium)

Website Tips During Launch

before launch - Test Your buy Links

Obviously, it’s really important to double check all of your buy links!

On the front end of your website you can hover your mouse over any button or link and it will display the linked URL. This is a nice quick way to check.

Alternatively you can just manually click on all your links to make sure everythings working in order!

Also, you can always create trackable links in bit.ly or using a link shortener plugin such as pretty links. This way after your launch you can dive in analyse the stats if that’s something you’d like to persue.

before launch - Link your policy on the sales page

In the footer of the sales page template there are 2 links; one to your main website and one to the programs own refund policy.

1. Hover over the text and select the settings cog icon to edit the module

 2. Select the “Content” tab. Highlight the link text and press the ‘link’ button to insert the link

Be sure to remember to add these links prior to launch.

during launch - Set launching home page

I’ve designed a ‘launching home page’ within this bundle. It’s essentially a welcome-landing page and the strategy behind it is that during your launch all traffic you receive to your website will be informed of your offering and they’ll be asked whether they’d like to view it!

I belive this is quite powerful and am excited to use this type of page for my next launch too!

To enable the launching home page, you’ll just temportaily make this page your home page.

1. From your WordPress dashboard navigate to Settings > Reading

2. Select “A Static Page” and select your Launching Home Page.

3. Save!

After launch - redirect leads to thank you page

Plugins

favourite plugins

A plugin makes it super easy to add features to your site without knowing a single line of code. It’s like a mini- theme, making it easy to add specific functionality that you simply ‘plug-in’ to your site. Best of all – there is no shortage of plugins.

Because there are literally thousands of plugins available, I’ve compiled a list of my favourite and (what I believe) most useful plugins to add to your WordPress website. Let’s go!

Spam – Akismet Anti-Spam

Social Icons – Simple Social Icons

Social share buttons – Social Warfare

Instagram gallery –  lightwidget.com

Affiliate link manager – Shortlinks by Pretty Links

SEO tool – Yoast SEO

Backup and restore tool – UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin

How to install free plugins

1. After you are logged into your WordPress dashboard click on “Plugins” then “Add New”

2. In the search box, search the plugin’s name.

3.Click “Install” then “Activate”

4. The plugin is now installed.
